Despite research being in its early stages, there is already considerable evidence that sexual arousal and feelings of love and intimacy can dramatically improve fertility.
Researchers began this investigation based on behavior in certain animals whose desire for mating is triggered to coincide with the females ovulation. Research has shown that, on a subconscious level, men and women are the same.
Men, for example, are believed to instinctively sense when a woman is entering her most fertile phase of her monthly cycle.
Sexual Instincts and Fertility
In response to this, men undergo a series of biochemical changes of their own, subconsciously stimulating their need for sex.
Women pick up on this stimulation and become stimulated themselves, and so sexual intercourse is encouraged at the most fertile period in the month.
This idea is reinforced by women whose sexual arousal is heightened at the midpoint of their cycle, when ovulation is taking place and their hormones are in overdrive.
Men, in return, often feel more sexually stimulated by their partners at this same point in the cycle.
Fertility can also be heightened, in addition to sexual desires, if you have a loving, caring, and emotionally fulfilling relationship with your partner.
Loving Sex Increases Fertility
There are many cases of women with a history of infertility who have not had a menstrual cycle in years. These women then meet and fall in love with the man of their dreams and suddenly go into spontaneous ovulation.
Do not underestimate the emotional affects of love and contentment on your fertility.
There is growing evidence that when you feel happy, secure, cared for, loved, and your sex life is fulfilling, your fertility can soar.
This link between a general sense of well-being and increased fertility is due to the hypothalamus gland, which is responsible for production and secretion of all the reproductive hormones.
Your Emotions and Fertility
The hypothalamus gland is extremely sensitive to emotional changes, and when you’re happy and contented it works to its full potential, producing the reproductive hormones at the optimal levels.
When you’re unhappy or depressed, its functionality can suffer a marked decrease, which has an immediate knock-on effect for your fertility. This is believed by many to be the most dominant factor in all cases of unexplained infertility.
Besides emotions, there is another factor that can cause striking changes to the efficiency of the hypothalamus gland, and that factor is endorphins.
Endorphins are chemicals manufactured by the body to dull pain and heighten the ability to experience pleasure.
An emotionally and physically rewarding sexual relationship with your partner will result in increased levels of endorphins throughout your body, and therefore benefit your hypothalamus gland, maximizing its ability to communicate vital reproductive signals with the pituitary gland.
The result? A higher reproductive potential, and the best chance to get pregnant as fast as possible!
The Takeaway
Better sex is more likely to get you pregnant – period.
Too many couples who have been struggling to get pregnant for months or even years make the huge mistake of letting their sex get stale and boring. They see sex as a requirement for getting pregnant, and not something that should be enjoyed and cherished.
And the crazy thing is, this very mistake is likely to decrease you fertility.
So use what I’ve talked about in this post as an excuse to make sexual pleasure and enjoyment a priority for both you and your partner. It’ll increase your chances of getting pregnant, and as a bonus your sex life will improve too!
